ECOvision 2018 Project launched at Vodokanal

On 20 April, the Russian-German youth project “ECOvision” was launched at the Information & Training Center, 56 Shpalernaya st., in the framework of the German Week in St. Petersburg. During the project period, from April to December, school students from St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region will produce videos dedicated to burning environmental challenges.

At the official opening ceremony, the foreign partners: Dirk Zirpka, Deputy Head of Economics Department at the Consulate General of Germany, and Ralph Berens, Manager of Education for Sustainable Development at the Hamburg Administration and Head of International Cooperation Department at the Hamburg Environment and Energy Committee, addressed their welcome words to the participants.

The project is launched for the eighth year running. This year, its slogan is “Real world and sustainability: challenging solutions”. The main project ideas are: environment-friendly sustainable future, understanding changes in approaches to the satisfaction of needs, and improving the quality of life. The teams will be asked to make a mini-investigation to examine the problems arising in the course of decision-making in everyday life.

For example, the following situation can be taken as a topic: municipal staff collect dead leaves in autumn, put them into plastic bags and dispose to the dump. How does it influence the environment and the quality of life?

Everything that the participants will show in their videos should work for the benefit of the nature and environment and to create new opportunities for people’s behavior to become more environment-friendly. At the competition, the jury will assess videos in different nominations (the nominations will be announced when all videos are submitted to the competition).
